EXAMINATION & DIAGNOSTICS

Vision and refraction check

Assessment of visual acuity and possible refractive error

Vision and refraction check

What is this?

Refraction determines which lens powers give the clearest and most comfortable vision. It assesses refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and age-related near-vision changes.

When can this test be useful?

  • The result is more than a single number and may differ for distance, near or specific work tasks.
  • Symptoms and binocular function can influence the final correction.
  • Refraction assesses focusing but does not replace an eye-health examination.

What can you expect?

We start with your reason for attending and relevant history, then perform only the measurements that fit the purpose of the visit. Findings and possible next steps are explained clearly.

What happens next?

The outcome may be reassuring, lead to follow-up, an updated correction or โ€” when needed โ€” advice to contact a GP or ophthalmologist.
