Retinal photography

Imaging of the retina to document visible structures

Retinal photography

What is this?

Retinal photography captures images of the back of the eye, including the retina and optic nerve. Images can document visible changes and support comparison over time.

When can this test be useful?

  • Photography provides a two-dimensional image and does not replace all parts of an eye examination.
  • Images can be useful for documentation and comparison during follow-up.
  • Pupil dilation may sometimes be needed for a clear image.

What can you expect?

We start with your reason for attending and relevant history, then perform only the measurements that fit the purpose of the visit. Findings and possible next steps are explained clearly.

What happens next?

The outcome may be reassuring, lead to follow-up, an updated correction or โ€” when needed โ€” advice to contact a GP or ophthalmologist.
