Contrast sensitivity check

Contrast sensitivity is the ability to see an object against its background — a different aspect of vision from ordinary visual acuity.

Important: Screen brightness, glare, viewing distance and display quality affect the result. This gives an indication only and cannot replace an eye examination.

Before you start

  • Set the display to a comfortable, stable brightness and turn off colour filters.
  • Avoid glare or bright light falling directly on the screen.
  • Wear your usual glasses or contact lenses for this viewing distance.
  • Test each eye separately by gently covering the other eye without pressing on it.
